Welcome to Morley Newlands Academy.
We are a good school striving to become outstanding. We aim to take excellent care of local children and to provide an outstanding education so that they can move on to high school as successful, very well-behaved and confident learners. We have a wonderful new building providing an exciting and nurturing place to learn. In that building we have the best of old and new: there is an excellent reading scheme library to launch our early readers; we have over 200 iPads and 30 children’s PCs so that children can become confident users of today’s and tomorrow’s technology.
There is a great staff team at Newlands with highly committed teachers supported by caring classroom assistants. A pastoral care team of three ensure that children’s personal needs are met and that safeguarding is of a very high standard. The school has four senior staff trained to designated teacher level for child protection.
This year we are confidently predicting our best ever Year 6 attainment results. We expect that over 90% of the children will gain a good level (4B+) ready for high school. Well over 50% will gain a Level 5 in mathematics. To make sure that the needs and wishes of the children are central to all that we do we have a school council; we involve children in discussions (they influenced the design of the building); we give the children questionnaires and we hold mini interviews. So that children have a rounded education we have sports teams, art clubs, an orchestra and choirs …
Morley Newlands also works in close partnership with other schools, particularly The Morley Academy and other members of The Gorse Academy Trust.
Please feel free to contact the school if you want any further information.
Morley Newlands Academy
At Morley Newlands we strive to deliver Achieving and Enjoying – our school motto. ”We believe all children should leave Morley Newlands Academy prepared for lifelong learning – independent, respectful, confident and caring.” We challenge and support all pupils to ”flourish academically, socially, physically, creatively, spiritually and emotionally.”
The school is required to have policies covering many different topics. You can find some of the school policies in the School Documents folder on the website. If you cannot find what you are looking for please contact the school.
We last had a full inspection in November 2012. Here are some highlights from the report:
You can read the full report or visit the Ofsted site page for the school. You can also see previous reports such as the Interim Report from September 2011 and our previous Ofsted report in the Ofsted section of our School Documents folder.
KS2 Performance Tables
Each year the Government publishes performance tables on the DfE Schools website. You can use this information to see how each school near you compares with the average for your local authority area and across the country. The performance tables for Morley Newlands Primary for 2011 are here – Morley Newlands KS2 Performance Tables. New performance tables for 2012 will be published shortly, probably in late October.
The proportion of pupils gaining Level 4 in English and Mathematics was the highest seen at Newlands for at least 8 years. The current forecast is for a similar proportion of pupils to gain L4 in May 2013. For further information see our Year 6 Progress Summary May 2012 document. You can read more about assessment at Morley Newlands on our assessment page.
