Healthy lunches: freshly prepared with advice from nutritional experts

Healthy Lunches

Morley Newlands Academy is partnered with Live Kitchen  who assist our catering staff by providing access to health and safety specialists, staff trainers, and a menu planning team. This expert advice is put into every meal prepared at the Academy ensuring fresh, healthy lunches are available every day.

Live Kitchen is an excellent tool for you to manage your child’s meals, providing access to nutritional information and recipe cards- so that you can see how it was cooked. Additionally you can fill out dietary requirements which will be viewed by the chef preparing the food at the Academy.

to find out more about Live Kitchen including how to set up an account please read our ‘How to Pay for School Meals’ page.

Encouraging Variety

Our healthy meals have a large variety and our students enjoy trying new foods. Through parent’s Live Kitchen accounts your child’s meals can be pre-ordered from a range of foods for up to a term at a time.

Our meals typically include the following food children should be eating more of:

  • high-quality meat, poultry or oily fish
  • fruit and vegetables
  • bread, other cereals and potatoes.

Foods which children should be eating less of:

  • drinks with added sugar, crisps, chocolate or sweets in school meals and vending machines
  • more than 2 portions of deep-fried, battered or breaded food a week.

Some information is provided below to help parents prepare healthy packed lunches.
