Sports Premium Funding: promoting the value of healthy lifestyles
From April 2013, schools have been in receipt of Government funding totalling £150 million. This funding is used to improve physical education (PE) and sports within schools. Primary schools will receive a total of £8,000 plus £5 per child per year for two years. The funding will be received in schools over three financial years: 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/16.
Schools are free to decide where best to spend this money but the objective is to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision while reaching as many children as possible, to increase participation and promote the value of healthy lifestyles.
